A/N:Merry Christmas Everyone!Though it's Christmas today,I still wanted to write today and share my real Christmas experience. This chapter will be a real story of what happened to me this Christmas and then we shall continue on with the story. -mbwzy-
Yesterday was Christmas Eve, but I was not expecting any gifts because all I wanted for Christmas was to be with my friends and family. We celebrate Christmas because it's the day that Jesus Christ was born. The true meaning of Christmas is not about the material things we get, it's about sharing love with one another, which means loving both your family and loving your enemies and forgiving others. It is also the time to share what we have to others and not expect anything in return; the time to be with your loved ones and to cherish each moment with the ones you love without any regrets. Don't feel bad if you’re expecting a gift because Christmas also symbolizes sharing and giving. I hope you’re having a good day this Christmas. I've decided to write my story last night.
Yesterday, I was not sad because I didn't get any new clothes, new shoes or any material things like gadgets that I really wanted.
I'm glad that I'll be spending Christmas together with my parents because being together during Christmas time is the most important of all than some materialistic thing. That night, I went to chat with my relatives on yahoo messenger. I talked to my aunt on the phone that lives in the same province, and she said that she'll be coming at around midnight tonight to spend Christmas with us. My cousin was still at work that time and my parents went to a gathering. They told me they wouldn't take that long so they told me not to come because it's only about thirty minutes to an hour, so I was alone that night. After my aunt and I had the talk on the phone, she hung up because she still had some cooking to do. After awhile, I was still on my laptop Facebooking and chatting with my close friends. I saw my second cousin, Bhevz online on Facebook.
I messaged her and greeted her with a Merry Christmas, but it took a long time for her to reply. Of all my cousins, she's the closest one to me because we’re the same age and we were playmates since childhood. She replied after ten minutes, and I began talking to her. We were talking about tagging photos on Facebook. Her photo was tagged when she was fourteen that time, and I was in the picture too. In the year 2008, we had a vacation to the Philippines and I got to be close with her again. She told me to remove those pictures because she said she looked too young there, and I was kind of sad because those pictures meant so much to me. The bond that we shared was the happiest feeling to me. It allowed me to put real laughter on my face and not just a fake smile. I was able to express myself when I'm with the ones I loved.
Did those photos not mean anything to her? She asked me twice to remove those photos and I agreed. I didn't tell her that I was sad because of her request. After that, she was still online and I kept messaging her, but she never replied. The other day, on the 23rd, I was still awake around 3am, and I saw her on yahoo this time. I messaged her and she messaged me twice, but that was it. She never replied again. I knew she was online because she was still on Facebook. It kind of hurt my feelings when she just ignored me while I kept being a fool waiting for her until it was 4am. I kept being a fool to myself, and I was always pretending that everything was fine and well, but deep inside me I was hurt. My weakness is when one of my loved ones was hurt, and I never express when I’m hurt. I let it all out to one of my friends, Afhilangie. She gave me some advice which made me look at a brighter side again. It made me realize that if someone forgets you, don't mind it because they just lost a good friend. I will be positive and not think about it anymore.
It's their choice, and my friend told me that if I just kept thinking about it and the hurt that they caused me, I’d be the one loosing and I don't want that. I'll be a better person next time I face them. To my best friend Afhilangie, thank you so much for the advice. It was almost midnight, but my parents, cousin and my aunt were the only relatives I had here in Canada. Most of my relatives are in U.S.A. or Asia. In our culture, midnight on Christmas Eve is the most important time because we have a gathering called "Noche Buena" where there is a lot of food and our family eats together. I hoped that everyone would make it in time, but they never made it so I was all alone when the clock struck 12.
This was my first time celebrating Christmas all alone. At the age of fifteen, it was my first time. I never thought that it could be this lonely, and I started to cry; not making a single noise as I did. I started to cry because for me, family is first before anything else and all I wanted for Christmas was to be with them but they never made it on time. Again, I talked to my best friend Afhilangie to express my feelings. She was a true friend and she assured me that they will come. I just have to have hope. She told me that I shouldn't feel bad about my parents because God doesn't want that.
I waited for half an hour and my best friend was right, my parents arrived. After little while more, my cousin arrived and I decided to take a bath although it was past midnight. At about 1am, my aunt made it and we had the "Noche Buena" gathering. I was really glad because after this bad-good experience, the spirit of Christmas was still in me and it will always be because I had hope. I don't know if I should call this my worst Christmas ever or my best, but this Christmas was definitely a different one.It ended up being the most unforgettable moment in my life because in the end, I was still able to feel "Christmas”. I will cherish this memory forever. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you learned the value of Christmas and why we celebrate it. -mbwzy-
